FAQ

The goal of the PSEG Long Island Energy Kit Challenge is to empower students and their families to save energy. The free kits available through this program make a real difference in saving energy when used in the home.

By signing up for your kit, your family is doing its part to save energy and help the planet! The kit helps you save money on your home energy bill each year, and each completed sign-up also credits your school for the chance to earn cash rewards. Plus, once you fill out and return the kit's enclosed behavioral response card, you'll be entered in the family prize drawing for the chance to win a $500 cash prize.

These free kits are provided as part of the in-school programs The Conservation Caper and The Resource Force, and are available for Long Island residents. Families and staff at participating schools are eligible to receive the kit.
Yes. The kits are completely free for residents in PSEG Long Island's service territory and include free shipping.
The kit is specifically geared toward saving electricity and contains four 9-watt LED bulbs. Just switch out a few of the old incandescent bulbs in your home with the bulbs in the kit and you'll be saving energy in no time!
$100 School Reward
Participating schools automatically receive $100 after reaching 100 unique* energy efficiency kit requests. Our team will track the kit requests and credit them to participating elementary and middle schools through December 15, 2019. We challenge every school to reach 100 kit requests so that every school is a winner! Cash rewards are sent to schools in the form of a check.

*A unique request is defined as one completed request per family/household. A family's request for the kit will only count once toward this reward.
